No more finger-pointing from the Bruins

I have to admit that I laughed when Milan Lucic chose to give a Alex Burrows and the Canucks a little of their own medicine on Monday night…

But it’s also good to hear that Claude Julien stood firm regarding his status on such shenanigans (Dear Gord forgive me, but I’ll say it: the referees did a fantastic job of keeping the game from spiraling out of control), and Lucic told ESPN Boston’s Joe MacDonald that the entire team got a talking-to from Julien after the game:

“He said he doesn’t like that kind of stuff, and as a player you agree with it,” Lucic said. “It’s something that happens in the heat of the moment. He definitely gave me some heat about it and I agree with him. It’s not the type of team we are to do things like that. It’s not the type of player I am to do things like that, to stoop to that level. We’re a classy team and we want to remain that way.”

[Mark] Recchi said the players did not know about Julien’s comments earlier in the day.

“I got in trouble for that,” Recchi said. “Coach gave me heck for that. We didn’t know this morning that he said something. It’s emotional out there, but it won’t happen again. It’s an emotional game and you get involved.”

Burrows said after the Canucks’ loss that gestures and chirping like that does not bother him.

“Move on and get ready for the next game,” he said.

Let’s hope so.
