Let’s Talk Hockey

from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,

• Keep hearing that Francois Allaire isn’t coming back to the Leafs next year as goalie consultant. But so far, there is nothing official on his apparent departure and Ben Scrivens is off to Switzerland to work with him for awhile. So, go figure ... As of right now, the Leafs will enter next season with two goaltenders, James Reimer and Scrivens, who combined have won 38 career NHL games and Brian Burke says he is okay with that.

• From the previous lockout: A conversation with an NHL GM: “I can’t make it on a $35-million salary cap. We’ll go bust if that happens.” The same GM now operates in an NHL with a $70-million salary cap and is still in business.

a few more hockey notes…
