Had a roommate in college from the DC area who was not into sports.  Myself and another roommate were obsessed with hockey.  Hockey was on the TV all day and night, and many games of NHL 10 were played.  Between the Caps recent success and our constant hockey environment, he became a huge fan.

* Are you ready for hockey right now, or are you still trying to recover from the past season?
Could not be more ready!

* Name the two teams playing in the Stanley Cup Final in 2011. Vancouver and Pittsburgh. Vancouver has made numerous improvements, to solidify a team already chomping at the bit. Two healthy Sedins make them the most dangerous in the west. For Pittsburgh… Crosby. Nuff said.

* What team will raise the Stanley Cup in June 2011? Vancouver. The west will rise again. * Name the team you feel has Stanley Cup finalist written all over it but just won’t make it? Washington. Overhyped, and Ovechkin will flounder.

* Who wins the Conn Smythe Trophy (MVP of the playoffs)? Sidney Crosby. He will lead the playoff point-getters.

*Who can bounce back in 2010-11? Roberto Luongo. Dismal season last year. He loses the “C”, gets some new coaching help, and stops the crease antics, and finally finds out why he is so hyped.

* Most improved team for the 2010-11 season? Atlanta/Toronto/Edmonton. Atlanta have improved while letting Kovy go. Toronto and Edmonton have nowhere to go, but up.

* Most disappointing team for the upcoming season? Washington. Ovy chokes.

* What team wins the Presidents’ Trophy (most points in the regular season)? Pittsburgh. Chomping at the bit to get back, they play mean and smart. Broadstreet bullies in a new city and arena?

* Will a goalie score a goal in the NHL this year—and if you answer yes, who is the goalie? No

* How many players will reach the 100-point mark; for extra credit, who will they be? Zero, closest will be Crosby.

* Will a player score 60-plus goals this season? No.

* Who wins the Hart Memorial Trophy as MVP? Sidney Crosby

* Will Martin Brodeur start more than 55 games this season? No.

* Name the player with the most penalty minutes this season? Daniel Carcillo

* Reports are Mike Modano will sign with the Detroit Red Wings. What number will he wear? 29. So many retired numbers.

* Name your most respected hockey journalist? Bob McKenzie

* The best TV play-by-play man? Jim Hughson

* The best TV hockey analyst? Kelly Hrudey

* Name the one team that makes you happy when they lose? Toronto. Just because of the fans.

* The greatest hockey player you ever saw play? Wayne Gretzky, hands down.

* Your hockey superstition while watching a game (rally hat, legs crossed, etc.)? None. That’s silly, as a fan. Sometimes, I jump on the playoff beard bandwagon, but it’s just for fun.

* Have you tried to turn a friend or family member into being a hockey fan? Did it work; share your success story. No. I live in Canada.

* Are you ready for hockey right now, or are you still trying to recover from the past season? Last season was great, and had potential to be one of the most exciting in history. I think this year will be better!

I admire anyone answering all those questions, and find myself in curious agreement with animal56 for the most part.

I have no clue for most of your questions, Paul. But for this, I think this year (with Z playing on his wing/pivoting for him) Datsyuk will finally break the 100-point barrier.

* Name the two teams playing in the Stanley Cup Final in 2011.
New Jersey vs. Detroit. Its payback time.

* What team will raise the Stanley Cup in June 2011?
Detroit

* Name the team you feel has Stanley Cup finalist written all over it but just won’t make it?
Washington. They have the offensive horses to get the job done, but their lack of defensive focus will let them down.

* Who wins the Conn Smythe Trophy (MVP of the playoffs)?
Johan Franzen. The guy is money in the playoffs.

* Most improved team for the 2010-11 season?
I really like what Atlanta has done.

* Most disappointing team for the upcoming season?
Phoenix. Last year was an aberration.

* What team wins the Presidents’ Trophy (most points in the regular season)?
Washington

* Will a goalie score a goal in the NHL this year—and if you answer yes, who is the goalie?
No

* How many players will reach the 100-point mark; for extra credit, who will they be?
None. It’s going to be the year of the goalie.

* Will a player score 60-plus goals this season?
No

* Who wins the Hart Memorial Trophy as MVP?
Ovechkin. A goalie will come close, but AO is going to be the popular choice.

* Will Martin Brodeur start more than 55 games this season?
Yes. They will try to keep his games down, but like every season before, he’ll end up with the lion’s share of games in net.

* Name your most respected hockey journalist?
Bob Mackenzie, the Great White North.

* The best TV play-by-play man?
Jim Hughson/Mike Emerick. I like them both.

* The best TV hockey analyst?
I think Hrudey is really good, both on tv and radio.

* Name the one team that makes you happy when they lose?
Toronto. Besides Notre Dame losing, nothing makes me happier in the morning than seeing another Toronto loss.

* The greatest hockey player you ever saw play?
Gretzky

* Your hockey superstition while watching a game (rally hat, legs crossed, etc.)?
Drink in hand. Foam ball on table to throw at tv when bad calls happen.

* Have you tried to turn a friend or family member into being a hockey fan?  Did it work; share your success story.

NHL 94 on the Sega Genesis. Greatest sports video game ever. We used to hold season tournaments in our dorm room in college. Posted standings on our door. It started out with 4 guys with lots of alcohol and nothing to do and it ended up with around 10. Given it was a university in the south, not many followed hockey at that time. Because of the game, all of them became hockey fans and Thursday night hockey on ESPN became a weekly must see event.

* Are you ready for hockey right now, or are you still trying to recover from the past season?
When exactly does training camp start?
