Flames Off To A Slow Start

from Vicki Hall of the Calgary Herald,

“It’s like we’re still in exhibition mode,” the head coach said. “The reality of this hockey team — when we have success — is that we have two star players on this hockey team. That’s what we have. We’ve all got to play within what we are as players.”

The two stars, in Sutter’s mind, are Iginla and Miikka Kiprusoff.

Full stop.

“When we play a lunch-bucket type of game — when we keep the game simple and do it the right way — we play well. We’re an effective team.

“We have guys right now who feel it’s skill, skill, skill.”

The nice thing about being a beat writer for the Flames is that you can just sit back and write the same column about the team at every point in every year.

Really, all you have to do is make sure you update the names of the head coach and players, because every year they all say the same things about why they are sucking.
