Expect the NHL’s 2012-2013 regular season schedule to be released on Thursday

ESPN’s Scott Burnside noted that the NHL will release its 2012-2013 regular season schedule sometime this week, and Fox Sports Tennessee’s John Manasso nails down a more exact date than “sometime this week” via Predators GM David Poile’s discussion of a certain unrestricted free agent defenseman’s future:

“I’m pretty sure they’re working on a schedule next year,” [Poile] said. “It’s coming out on Thursday and I know it says the Predators will play 82 games. Everyone’s been through this before and I’m not trying to be too funny about this or downplay it or what have you. Life moves on. Good things happen and bad things happen to franchises.

I’ll leave reading the rest of Manasso’s story, if you’re interested in Poile’s take on Ryan Suter’s decision to test the unrestricted free agent waters, but that’s another story for a different entry.
