Winnipeg Jets star defenceman Dustin Byfuglien has pleaded guilty to careless boating after reaching a deal with Minnesota prosecutors where any alcohol or drug-related intoxication-related charges he faced were thrown out.
Byfuglien entered his plea Monday morning in a Minneapolis courtroom, moments before his jury trial was set to begin.
Judge Ronald Abrams sentenced the Stanley Cup-winning player to 30 days of community service. Abrams suspended 28 of them for a period of a year, leaving Byfuglien to serve two days.
