from Shawn Mitchell of Puck-Rakers,
This one was soul-crusher. Martin Erat swung the hammer. He scored on a breakaway with 8.4 seconds remaining in the game. Of course he did.
“When you score four power-play goals, with a lead like that in a visiting building…we made plays like we’ve never played the game before,” Blue Jackets coach Scott Arniel said.
Carter was not around by the time The Dispatch got to the dressing room area. A furious Arniel did not speak to assembled media but spoke briefly to The Dispatch on his way to the team bus.
Arniel asked what his players had to say about the game. More than one said another third-period collapse did them in.
“That wasn’t just the third period,” Arniel said. “We gave up three tap-in goals, backdoor. We just, we just…we’re mentally right now …we’re gone.”
