Changes Needed In Buffalo

from Jerry Sullivan of the Buffalo News,

Pegula ought to be mad. It’s time he did something about it. He needs to shake things up. There’s no culture of accountability in that operation. This is the 15th year of Regier and Ruff. It’s a culture of contentment, in which people become too comfortable, and it trickles down to the players.

Do something. I would have fired Regier at the start. He could get rid of Ruff. Coaches get fired in the NHL all the time. Or make a big trade, something that will get the attention of the locker room and let the players know that inconsistent work ethic and spotty production won’t be tolerated….

The numbers say Miller is an average goalie. His career goals-against (2.59) and save percentage (.914) would rank below average in the NHL right now. His stats this year (3.12 GAA, .902 save pct.) are near the bottom of the league. He had one great season. That doesn’t make him elite.

There’s no longer any justification for treating Miller like a franchise goalie, an untouchable. The longer they wait, the more Miller’s value could diminish. But it’s hard to see Regier making such a bold move, especially now that Jhonas Enroth has come back to earth.

If Miller is a below average goalie, we’ll take him and give you Conks (sorry buddy) It’d be nice to have the East Lansing Miller boys ont he team.. it’d be worth taking on such a bad goaltender…

I didn’t read the whole article because it sounded like whining… So if he mentioned the mental lapses on D, the general lack of confidence on the team since not defending miller getting rolled over, lack of dedication to their system, the aquisition of an unproven Leino and overpaying him and the subsequent lack of production, inconsistant play of Tyler Meyers, injuries…

But let’s fire the GM and the Coach and get rid of this shit goalie…

It’s kind of hard to disagree with the “fire the GM!” talk when that GM gave Ville Leino the contract he did.

The Red Wings traded him for spare parts and the Flyers ran away from him even after he performed. Those weren’t red flags enough to prevent the Sabres from dropping insane money on a six-year deal for a guy with an 18-month track record.

I can’t help but think he had a Pegula in his ear in the offseason.  They’re like detroit in that they bring in people to fit the system.  new owner wanted to generate buzz and bring in some talent* .. inflated contract for Erhoff too for a GM who’s been pretty good and getting bang for his buck… I think the owner is mostly culpable in the same way I think Mike Priest is mostly culpable for Columbus lack of production the past 4 years.. the rest you can attribute to Doug MacLean.

Just not sold no the fire the GM and Coach talk there yet.  The organization needs to get back to their system from the top down.  Starting with the owner.

Yawn…

I like the fact that he references a ‘culture of contentment’, when he’s been spewing the same crap at the Buffalo News for over 20 years.

Maybe the Snooze should take the advice of the ‘columnist’ and clean house

He answered his own question.

What, you thought they were going to hand the team over to Enroth?

Get real, clown.
