Kukla's Korner Hockey

Hockey Hall of Fame writer Jim Kelley has passed away. Kelley was a hockey media legend in Buffalo who started covering the Sabres in 1981 and went on to cover the Stanley Cup Finals for 23 straight years. He announced in December 2009 that he was battling pancreatic cancer.
Sadly, Kelley will miss his induction into the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame with Alexander Mogilny on January 1.
There is a wonderful bio presented on the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall’s web site. Kelley is a 2005 inductee.
It was only eleven days ago that Kelley wrote a touching piece about his last conversation with Pat Burns. Whether you were a fan of Burns, a reader of Kelley’s articles, or have dealt with a loved one facing cancer, it would be worth a few minutes to read it.
For more on Kelley, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News has been tweeting other pieces and tidbits this evening.
