Bruins Now Have The Target On Their Back

from Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe,

The fun part is over. Last year is last year. If you’re a fan, you can relive and relive and relive all the good stuff from 2010-11 as long as you care to. But if you’re a member of the Boston Bruins , you know very well that there is no rubber stamp mechanism, and in case you had forgotten, the TD Garden scoreboard served as a reminder.

Philadelphia 2, Boston 1. You’re in last place, guys.

“You just saw it,’’ said Dennis Seidenberg. “Back to reality. We are the hunted now. It will be extra tough this year. We will have to be on our game. But in the end, it will make us that much tougher.’’

I watched this game.  The goat is Chara.  He was hanging around behind his net looking to rough up someone on both of the Philly goals.  He was out of position and managed to avoid making a play that he should have.  Quite frankly he looked like the playground bully avoiding making real contact.

Not that Pronger was any better.  He was a turnover machine.  He gave the puck away almost every time he had it.  The three best defensemen for Philly were Timmonen, Carle, and Lilja.

Both teams are going to have to play much sharper if they intend to be a factor in this season.  They did not look ready to start the season

This despite Mike Emetic, the worst play by play man in sports, proclaiming it a well-played game.  I fail to understand why NBC insists on using this overblown source of trivia when they have one of the best in the person of Dave Strader under contract.
