Kukla's Korner Hockey

from Bob Duff of the Windsor Star,
“We had the Cup with the coffee,” Reg Westgarth said, nodding toward the Cup in reference, the Stanley Cup, which arrived at their Amherstburg residence at 7 a.m.
Tuesday was when Kevin Westgarth of the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings got his chance to spend the day with the legendary silver chalice and he made the most of it….
“This was fantastic,” Kevin said. “I love being from this town. We love our hockey, so it’s pretty incredible to be able to share this with them. What a wonderful feeling.”
The day also brought home to Kevin’s wife Megan – the daughter of former Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Cowher – another example of what differentiates the Stanley Cup from all other sporting achievements.
“I was talking to Meagan about it,” Reg said. “The funny thing about the Super Bowl is there’s a huge build up to it and once it’s done, it’s done. She said that her dad spent about 12 hours signing memorabilia for the Hall of Fame and for different stuff and after that it was done, whereas the Stanley Cup, it goes on. It parades around the world. It is a unique experience. And this small town Canada thing, you don’t get that anywhere else.”
