Back on October 29, the Ottawa Senators came back from a 4-1 defecit to defeat the New York Rangers by a score of 5-4 in a shootout at Madison Square Garden.
Fast forward a few weeks later and the Blueshirts are a much different hockey club. The team is currently on a 4-game winning streak and is playing more responsibly in their own zone and when it comes to discipline.
According to Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants, Henrik Lundqvist will be back between the pipes for the Blueshirts. He will be coming off his 5-3 vicotry over the Montreal Canadiens last Saturday night and will more than likely look to bounce back from his average performance against the Senators back in late October.
Last time these two clubs met, there were some questionable hits. One resulted in the loss of Senators’ captain Daniel Alfredsson as Wolski caught him with his head down.
Gross questioned Xenon Konopka, who was thrown out of the game against the Blueshirts back on the 29th when he hit Artem Anisimov, if there would be bad blood tonight and he said the following:
“Sure there is,” Konopka said when asked if there would be bad blood tonight. “We lost our captain. I look right across (in the Senators’ dressing room) and see him gone. It was a big blow to our lineup. I look at that and it (ticks) me off. I thought (Wolski’s) hit was worse than mine. In my mind, mine was a hockey play but everybody has their own interpretations.”
All the Rangers need to focus on is winning the hockey game. A five-game winning streak would certainly look good in an always tight Eastern Conference and would be nice to have going back to the Garden on Friday night when the club takes on the Carolina Hurricanes.
It should be a good one in Ottawa tonight so enjoy the game!
