Questions for Rangers’ Fans About the Homestand

Every once in awhile, I like to get readers directly involved in my blogs and today happens to be one of those times.

Feel free to leave a comment for the following questions:

1) What would you like to see the New York Rangers accomplish during this 6-game homestand?

2) What forward lines would you like to see head coach John Tortorella utilize? Why do your proposed lines make sense to you?

3) Which games, if any, do you think Tortorella will give to back-up netminder Martin Biron? Why those particular games/teams?

4) What would you like to see new Rangers’ Brad Richards and Michael Rupp do during the homestand?

5) Overall, what will home ice mean to the Blueshirts this season?

1) I’d like to see at least 4 wins from the Rangers, a more disciplined game with less penalties being taken and more responsible play in the Rangers own zone.  I would also like for the powerplay and the pack line to really get it going, especially Dubinsky and Anisimov.  Another thing I would like to see is the Rangers starting to out shoot their opponents for once.

2)  Lines

Stepan - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan
Fedotenko - Boyle - Prust
Wolski - Newbury - Rupp

McDonagh - Girardi
Del Zotto - Sauer (when he is healthy)
Erixon - Eminger

The only problem with the lines are Wolski on the fourth lines, but I think we’ll see him through the games get rotated on different lines as he did in the last game so that he will get around 13-16 minutes a game versus the rest of the fourth line that averages less than 6 minutes per game.

3)  I would only give Biron one game in the homestand and it would most likely be on Saturday against the Canadiens, but could also be Sunday against the Jets.  This way he wouldn’t have to play games on back to back days.

4)  I hope that Richards starts to help the powerplay get going although it isn’t only his responsibility to do this.  I would like him to start carrying the puck more throughout the game and especially on breakouts, which I feel he hasn’t been doing enough.

Hopefully Rupp will have some sort of impact on the game from a physical standpoint, which includes sticking up for his teammates and possibly fighting.

5)  Hopefully, the Rangers start winning on home ice and on this trip to the garden so that they can start getting momentum and use it to play better hockey throughout the rest of the season.

I would like to see Tortorella get lost in the new garden so he can not find his way back behind the bench. LOL.
