The Goods on Fantasy Hockey

If you are like me and trust the oddsmakers, you would have loaded up on Penguins and Canucks in your playoff pool this year. However, an infinite number of betting lines and playoff pools have gone topsy-turvy with the surprise early exits of the two teams that many predicted would meet in the Stanley Cup Final. If we want to find out what this Stanley Cup Final series would have been like, you’ll need to play it out on NHL 12; or if you seldom touch video games (like me), on your table hockey game.
Before we look ahead, let’s look back at what went wrong for these two favorites.
The people of Winnipeg have a lot to be thankful for this weekend. Not only is Thanksgiving (in Canada) on Monday, but also the Jets take the ice for the first time in 15 years. Although the Jets are not an expansion team, they are not that far off, having assumed the identity of an Atlanta Thrashers team that has struggled mightily in its ten-year existence. But that will hardly matter on Sunday, when the Jets make their return official against the Montreal Canadiens, a game that promises high television ratings across Canada.
So what can we expect fantasy-wise from the Jets? In my Pick Six (which covers Sunday, Monday, and weekly picks), I’ll examine a couple Jets who will attract attention on Sunday.
