The Blue Jackets will open their season against the Minnesota Wild. They will be doing it without Mike Commodore. He has been placed on IR with a groin pull according to Puck-Rakers. Roy has been called up from Syracuse. It’s a huge loss for the Blue Jackets, but let’s just hope that he isn’t out for a long period of time.
Now to the home opener. It should be a great game. There is some bad blood between the Wild and the Jackets, going back to the preseason when Eric Belanger boarded Chimera. Belanger did apologize for the hit, but Chimera is standing his ground saying it was a dirty hit. However, I think Boll said it best:
“It’s always in the back of your head,” Boll said. “We know who did it and we know what happened, but we can’t let that get in the way of getting two points. This is a huge year for the franchise and we want to get off on the right foot and that’s with a win, not trying to get back at somebody.”
I really don’t expect there to be a fight, but I do expect there to be some good hard hits.
Here are the lines for tonight:
As for the defense,
I don’t know what to expect. I don’t think Roy is going to get paired with Hejda, so I am thinking Tyutin will go up with Hejda and Klesla and Roy, and Methot and Russell will stay together
. Looks like Methot is going with Hejda, so Russell is with Roy.
Of course, Steve Mason will be in net. The Blue Jackets will have a tribute to the Rookie of the Year, at some point during the game.
I am so ready to see some Blue Jackets hockey, it’s not hockey season until you see your team on the ice.
So, here are some of my predictions for the season:
*The Blue Jackets will finish 6th in the Western Conference.
*The Blue Jackets will win their first series in the playoffs.
*Nikita Filatov will have an amazing rookie season and will win the Calder.
*Boll will get traded.
*Foote will finally make an appearance in Nationwide.
*Nash will score 50 goals.
Okay, now get down to Nationwide and enjoy the game! College students, they are doing the RushCBJ again this season, and don’t forget about the Huntington seats.
On a random note did you see this from Razor?
In the epiphany of epiphanies I have just guaranteed the Stars will open the season 1-0.
I did so on The Ticket this morning during fellow Emmy-endowed broadcast journalist Gordon Keith’s apprpriately branded “Gordo’s Corner”, and I backed it up with a commitment to purchase every fan in attendance a ticket to another game should the unthinkable unfold and the Stars lose to the Predators this weekend. (won’t happen…but if it does…)
Wow. I have never wanted to see the Preds. But, just for Razor to be put on the spot, that’d be great.
