Seriously. It’s not funny anymore.
Ready. Set. Vomit.
The Red Wings called up center Kris Newbury from Grand Rapids Monday morning to replace Darren Helm, who is out with an injured wrist.
“It’s more of a test, for sure,” coach Mike Babcock said. “We’ll put Newbury out there and we’ll grind away.”
Babcock said he would move Justin Abdelkader up to Helm’s line, skating between Drew Miller and Kris Draper. Newbury will skate on the fourth line with Brad May and Kirk Maltby.
Working on something about the Pipe Bomber’s resurgence. First though? How ‘bout some Ward?
The Hurricanes placed another veteran player on waivers this afternoon, this time making Aaron Ward available to be picked up by another NHL team.
The move comes after a disappointing start to the season for Ward, who has posted six assists and a minus-15 plus/minus rating in 31 games. Ward is on the final year of a two-year contract paying $2.5million per season.
Half that 2.5 is 1.75, 1.25?...I have no idea…DAMMIT. Subtract 30 games from that, if you’re a pharmacist, and go from there. Tick Tock?

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
