Rest Your Jimmy?  Not Tonite Says Uncle Mike

All is back to normal, right with the world.  The Wings are on fire.  2 points out of the lead in the Central and 2 points out of the conference lead, as well.  Meanwhile, Denver is just a measly four points from that precious 16 spot, and that’s just funny.  Ohio State fans can go back to Columbus this evening and set fire to their own vehicles.

Bubba’s in town and that’s fun.  The only concern for us today, forgetting momentarily about the Lions?

Jim Howard’s bound to get tired at one point or another.  Luckily, the dwarf commissioner made it law that he won’t be at the ASG so there’s that little three day break to look forward to.  The way it’s going now?  15 starts in a row and Uncle Mike’s Conk has seemingly been put out to pasture.

But we’re not worrying about that tonite.  Nope.  It’s a banner day in Southeast Michigan, bitches.  A banner frigging day.

Hail to the Live Blog.

Hail to the Chief and a great day for Michigan sports.  Awesome job by Hoke.  Well done, man.  Friggin’ well done.

Not thrilled with Jimmy starting his 15th straight game but the kid’s proven elite and an All-Star.  Wait, what?

I’ve been way more concerned about Patrick Eaves’ inactivity than Conklin’s. Early in the year, Babs tends to “ride” players more often than he did in his first few years as the Wings’ coach, and Emmerton’s started to tire of late—though he’s been fantastic overall—and I think Helm’s rather desperately needed a linemate who can match his speed, and Hudler isn’t exactly a fleet-footed player…

But in terms of confidence in Conklin versus starting Howard, given the way Howard’s playing and given the fact that the Wings don’t play again till Wednesday, I’m neither worried about Howie burning out or a lack of confidence in Conklin (yet, anyway). I am worried about the Wings being able to solve Rinne’s glove hand and his ability to bump Homer and get goals waived off as a result.

Chief, be well as you head out to sea again.

Brady Hoke has brought Michigan back. Well done, indeed.

Jimmah says he’s ready. Lots of back to backs in his college days he says (Khan). But seriously, four games this week and 3 in the last 4 days?

No let down. After tonight, we don’t play until Wednesday.

LET’S GO RED WINGS !!!!!

Don’t mean to rain on the ‘Go Blue’ parade, but beating a pretty bad Ohio State team (a team that Michigan State darn near shutout at the Horseshoe) isn’t much to brag about.  Truth is Michigan was supposed to win that game, good win, but nothing spectacular there.

There is just one personnel situation of major concern to The Red Wings, and no, 19, it’s not Todd Bertuzzi or Jiri Hudler or Fabian Brunstrom or Pavel Datsyuk or Hank Zetterberg. The one concern of The Franchise is what to do for a backup goalie. This solidly overwhelms all these other silly bitchings by fans.  There is no confidence in Ty Conklin as backup this year. Typically they will not perform a knee jerk reaction, but if nothing changes, THIS will be the “free agent” trading deadline priority.

Phooey on you.  It still goes down as a win against the Buckeye either way.

And this was a significantly improved Ohio team with their ineligible players back and a freshman QB now with 8 games under his belt.

Oh come on, John.  A Buckeye win over a bad Michigan team is still a win to them, too.

I mean, you HAVE to rest your Jimmy every once in a while.

Don’t want him to get chafed or anything, do we?

Joey Mac will be the backup by Jan 1.

If he fails, then MAYBE they make a trade.  But only for a solid backup not a starter.  Nabokov for a 5th rounder?

BTW, I’ve voted every day for the last three and written in Jimmeh every time.

Now for another subject…This one is for Hank tonight…

Greetings everybody!  Glad to have Eaves back in the lineup.  I just hope it’s not the result of anything serious with Emmerton.  The kid has acquitted himself pretty well so far.

Like RWBill, I’m terribly concerned about the backup goaltender situation.  If there is no confidence in Conklin, I’ve got to believe there’s a plan to do something.  Not realistic to expect Howard to play every game.

Ah Karen… (on 97.1).

I hope a Wings win over bubba can ease the pain.  LGRW!

Damn.  Another broken stick on a penalty kill.  Not to go all crochety Mick on you, but I’ll be damned if I wouldn’t make it a team rule that if you go over the boards for the PK you have to take a wooden stick with you.
