GDT - Game #4:  Red Wings at Wild (8:00)

Detroit (3-0) are brilliant at 5 on 5 hockey, leading the league with a ridiculous 9.00 5-5 F/A, and firing lots of rubber at the opposition goalie (38.3 S/G (2)).  Their special teams aren’t so much.  0-16 on the PP, and registering only 24 shots in over 27 minutes on the man advantage (woeful comes to mind, inept, maybe woefully inept).  Defense has been outstanding, a crossbar, and expired time helping the way to over 120 minutes of shutout play.  Maybe some of that can rub off on the Tigers pitching staff.

Paul Bunyan’s trophy on the line early, as well as the Tigers playoff lives (at the same time as the Wings - channel surfing is expected high tide tonight).  Another great day for Michigan sports fans!  Game(s) On, bitches.

Khan(!):

The Red Wings (3-0) have recorded consecutive shutouts and haven’t allowed a goal in 121 minutes, 31 seconds heading into tonight’s game at Minnesota.  . .

The Red Wings have overcome an ineffective power play (0-for-16), but they know that can’t continue. Kronwall said they aren’t getting enough pucks on net, having registered only 24 shots in 27:05 of power-play time. . .“Work ethic is a key,” Babcock said. “If your power play’s one and done all the time — you shoot it and never get it back — you’re not going to have much success. It’s like a continuous breakout for two minutes. “You got to wear the other team out, you got to shoot it and get it back, shoot it and get it back. When we’re more committed to doing that we’ll dig it out of the (opponent’s) net more.”

More Khan(!):

Defenseman Brad Stuart didn’t practice due to a sore groin but said he’ll play Saturday. . .

Holy snikeys, that is brutal!

How can a puck-possession team play well five-on-five, yet have such dismal numbers a man up?

I think it’s mental at this point.  Maybe they’re being too tentative, waiting for the “perfect” shot.  Just need to fire it on net and be there to get rebounds.

LET’S GO RED WINGS !!!!!

I do not like this PP problem, yes its the start of the season and we have 3 swins in a row, but bad powerplay can cause other teams to play more recklessly against the Wings, knowing they probably wont be penalized by goals, chances of injury also skyrocket

but still,Wings win tonight 4:2, Mule 2,Bert and Lids 1 each

God knows there’s not enough time left in the season to work on that.
