GDT - Game #31:  Red Wings host Kings (7:00)

DET (19-10-1) have a league best home record of 12-2-1, and are riding a 9 game home win streak.  The Kings (14-13-4), own the leagues worst offense, managing just 2.13 goals/game.  Things don’t look to improve for the Kings scoring woes tonight at JLA; as DET has been obliterating the competition during their home win streak by a combined 43 goals/for while allowing 13 goals/against.  DET have averaged an NHL-best 3.85 goals since Nov. 18, the Kings are worst in the league in that span at 1.58 per game. LAK have scored a league-low 66 goals this season, including two or fewer in 10 consecutive contests.

The Kings were at risk of a season-high sixth consecutive loss Thursday, trailing league-worst Columbus in the third, but scored twice in a 3:39 span of the period to win 2-1.

Bullet Bob put on one helluva a rock show Thursday night - much better than watching DET give up two goals in the last five minutes at NSH.

Congratulations OKie Jeff on the concert.

after a loss you just say C’est La Vie, because We’ve Got Tonight so the red wings can Turn The Page, lighting The Fire Inside.  jimmah will be Still The Same, Like A Rock.  the kings will be running Against The Wind because this is the motor city, no Hollywood Nights Down On Main Street, so You’ll Accompany Me on a live blog, or In Your Time, while pavel puts on his best Night Moves that will Roll Me Away.

Well played.  Bob was simply amazing - if he tours near you, that is money well spent.  Absolutely incredible - energized the building all night.  He was feeding off the fans as much as the fans were off him.

Khan(!) says the morning skate was optional.  Same lines as NSH game.

Coming off of a game in which your team was utterly dominant virtually all night (as the Wings were on Thursday), but somehow managed to lose by virtue of some key breakdowns at crucial moments, is a strange feeling.

As usual with this team, I have no idea what to expect tonight.  If they can clean up their little “attention to detail” issues that seem to plague them from time to time, and oh i dunno, maybe find a way to kill penalties, this Detroit team is trending in the right direction.  But those two “ifs” hold the key.  A weak penalty kill will get you bounced from the playoffs faster than just about any other weakness you can name, and right now the PK is a train wreck.

Thanks, Jeff.  And especially thank you for the following:

I’ve taken that duo for granted but that shows us just how dependable those two guys have been.

Congratulations OKie Jeff on the concert.

Win.  Seger will be at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on Dec. 30th.  Will see if I can get the tix to see him.  Been a while since I’ve seen him.

I’ll be missing the game and LB, because as part of my wife’s Xmas gift , I agreed to go see. This.

Fortunately, my favorite watering hole is 2 blocks from the venue. I’m figuring a 4 martini minimum, but more likely 6. That way, I’ll be too drunk to grasp the sharp stick I will feel like jabbing in my eye 10 minutes into the show.

Thanx OKie. Will be playing hockey during the game and will dvr it . Getting ready for a new season starting on January 9th. I play for a team named the Chiefs with the royal blue Chief jerseys from the slapshot movie. Yes, I am number 19 bitches. I am getting ready to take either Defense position TPH, or E-52 whichever opens up first. I will gladly take the league minimum and even take over Conk’s job cleaning the shitters and sweep the stairs to the midget pimp’s satisfaction. smile
