GDT - Game #22:  Red Wings host Predators (7:00)

DET (13-7-1) look to extend their winning streak to five games tonight, when they host NSH (10-7-4) at the Joe.  Yesterdays shootout win at BOS was a gift from the hockey gods.  Jimmy Howard was excellent in net, again.  In his 14th consecutive start, he made a season-high 41 saves.  Pavel Datsyuk was magically delicious, and appears to be catching fire (8 pts in last 4 GP).  But most impressive was - Todd Bertuzzi? Coach Babcock: “I thought Bert has played three of his best games since he’s been a Red Wing.  And the other thing I liked about him was taking care of the puck. When Bert gets himself in trouble is when he’s too cute (with the puck). But when he plays big and gets to the net and he’s hard on pucks and hard on people, he’s a big man who can skate.”

NSH come to the JLA in the midst of a 3 game losing streak.  The Predators are getting outstanding play from Shea Weber and Ryan Suter.  However, Pekka Rinne has been unusally leaky; and was pulled in the 1st period of the NSH game (6-2 loss) against EDM on Tuesday.  On Wednesday, NSH (with Rinne in net) took a two goal lead into the 3rd at MIN, and imploded.  The Predators lost 3-2, surrendering 3 GA on 8 shots, in the final 20 minutes.

Conks getting the start tonight? Howard was excellent yesterday minus that turnover that lead to Paille scoring. Datsyuk was great too, it was just a matter of time before he found his game again. Lets keep it rollin’ boys!

DET at home vs perennially-boring NAS following a game yesterday in BOS that was a (rare) SO Win?

Someone alert Admiral Ackbar…

Word.  I wish we had a third goalie on the roster so when Conks gets pulled Jimmy can stay on the bench.

Thanks Oakie!

Missed yesterdays game.  I was in the desert hitting golf balls…...with a 30.06, along with other various and sundry calibers. Great fun! Might have to throw away my nine iron.

The Preds always seem to play tough against the Wings.  Sorry to hear aboot the Pekka Rinne has being unusually leaky….they make pills for that.  Let’s hope the Trots doesn’t figure that out until the post game.

I definitely have to agree with Monkey on this game, the Wings are gonna need to channel their inner Akbar in this game.  With the Preds on a losing streak, and the fact that they always play the Wing hard, I expect to see Nashville’s best tonight.  Couple that with the Wings being on a winning streak and stealing an emotional game in Boston in which they were out played; I have to say that the tea leaves don’t read well tonight for the Wings.

Nonetheless, LGRW!
