GDT - Game #12:  Red Wings host Ducks (7:00)

How bad is it?  DET (5-5-1) currently sit at 13th in the WC (go ahead, click the link if you don’t believe me). Counting tonight, DET have 9 games until DDay.  Ken Daniels said, on the broadcast the other night (paraphrasing), that if a team wasn’t within 3 or 4 points of playoff position by Thanksgiving (US), they had virtually no chance of making the playoffs.  DET have 9 games until Thanksgiving to maintain position.  Right now, that seems impossible.  Currently, position 6-9 have 14 points,  position 10-11 have 13 points, and even the BBB at 12th spot have more points than DET.

Panicking yet?  Apparently Ken Holland is not:  “I’m not looking to work the phones for trades at this time.  The solutions are in the locker room.”  “Lots of meetings today. Everyone’s got to understand we got to stick with it,” Holland said. “They believe in the system, they’re competing hard. The puck isn’t going in the net. We know (eventually) it’s going to go in the net.”  “The message I keep getting (from players) is we don’t think we’re that far off,” Holland said. “We need a little puck luck. “We’re playing much better defensively, the problem is we’ve had breakdowns. The guys are trying, maybe they’re trying too hard.”

How bad is it?  Historically bad, the Red Wings haven’t gone winless in seven games since 1990-91 (0-5-2 from Jan. 14-30)—the year before Lidstrom entered the league.

Battle of the .500% tonight, ANA are 3-4-3 in their last ten, and cannot score either; their 2.00 G/G is 2nd only to NYI as most inept in the league (DET rank 25).

Maybe a little hate will bring the Wings to life tonight, Datsyuk pummels Perry, 8 OCT 10. LGRW.

I knew you weren’t happy with the way the Wings were playing but a 4.7?  There’s a whole lotta shaking going on in your neck of the woods.  Hope all is well and things get righted on the S.S. Hasek tonight or the iceberg ahead may sink us all.

Thanks, Okie!

Ken H says “the solution is in the locker room.”. On the ice would be good. I hate the Damned Ducks. Now is the time for a big win.

We need a little puck luck.

Luck doesn’t come to those that need it, luck comes to those that create their own.

Thanks Okie!
