WXYT: Rafalski, Draper and Kopecky Out For Sunday

Updated 1810: AP reporting, via the Freep, that Rafalski and Draper are “doubtful” as opposed to Kulfan’s “out”.

Here it is, via the News.

Red Wings defenseman Brian Rafalski, center Kris Draper and winger Tomas Kopecky all have been ruled out for Sunday’s Game 5 against Anaheim at Joe Louis Arena, the team announced Friday.

Rafalski and Draper have “upper-body” injuries. Kopecky took a hard left-hand punch to the head by Anaheim’s Francois Beauchemin on Thursday night.

Who’s in?

Yabbadabbadoobiebrothersdo. That’s who.

Coach Mike Babcock said Justin Abdelkader will replace Kopecky.

“Because he’ll run over people,” Babcock said of Abdelkader. “We expect him to play hard like (Darren) Helm. He’s on the forecheck and he’s a physical guy. He scored 23 goals for them (Grand Rapids) this season and was one of their best players in the playoffs.”

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
