GDT - Game #66:  Red Wings host ‘Hawks (4:00)

Original Six matinee as DET (43-19-3) host CHI (35-24-7) in a Central Division matchup. The Wings will play once again without Pavel Datsyuk, Nicklas Lidstrom, and maybe without Todd Bertuzzi as well.  However, Henrik Zetterberg and Valtteri Filppula have been picking up the pace of late.  Zetterberg has 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in his past 13 games.  Filppula has strung together three consecutive multiple-point games (four goals, three assists total) and has reached career highs in goals (21), assists (32) and points (53).

The ‘Hawks will be playing today without their captain, and second leading scorer, Jonathan Toews (reportedly a concussion). CHI struggle on the road, just 13-17-3 (22nd).  However, they are coming off a a 2-1 victory over the Senators this past Friday.  They had dropped 13 of their previous 15 road games entering Friday’s game.  Unfortunately for DET, CHI’s road woes do not apply to games at The Joe, the ‘Hawks are 5-0-1 in their last six games against the Red Wings in Detroit,

Bert is a game-time decision, the Wings call-up the Rifleman if Bert can’t go.

Thanks to all the “19” for their kind words about Junior.  Not only did I finally get to see Jeffery yesterday, an enormous blessing in itself; Rambo got to make his first phonecall last night from basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood - the perfect ending to my day.

Thank you all again.  Here is Junior with my clan (step-daughter, Abbey, and my amazing wife, Shannon)  smile

Sadly, 14 of Jeffery’s fellow soldiers did not come home to celebration. The AP photographer took this photo as me, my daughter Janeen, and my grandson Cole were paying respect to the fallen.  Godspeed to them all.

I don’t know how to post a photo in a thread (technically challenged),

Here is one of Jeff Jr. in formation, yesterday (2nd from left).

And the link to all the photos by the AP photographer.

Okie, what a range of emotions with those photos.  The one of your family made me smile, then the one of the brave people who didn’t make it home brought a tear to my eye.

So glad Jeff Jr. is home and that you heard from Rambo.

And thanks for all you do here!

LET’S GO RED WINGS !!!!!

Tampa Bay won 3 straight since picking up Commodore,
defeating the Rangers, Montreal and Carolina.
The next 9 games are at home for the Lightning.
(3 pts shy of the last playoff spot with a game at hand)
TB at home 20-9-2.

Khan’s Twitter  Bertuzzi will take pregame warmup and then decide if he can play. That was the last I heard.

G’morning from The Strip, Jeff.  Happy to see the GDT today but even more thrilled for you and your family on Jr.‘s return.  Emotionally hard to see the portraits of the 14 who passed away.  Godspeed indeed to the families.

However, Henrik Zetterberg and Valtteri Filppula have been picking up the pace of late.

Word.  And we need the tertiary scoring as well.  If the fourth line with Sak, Emmer, and Homer get going with scoring goals, that would be friggin’ amazing.  Hopefully, we’ll see Sak’s cheering section again at the Joe.

A fine looking family there OAkie. Thanks for the tribute to the fallen soldiers. Just heartbreaking.

On a lighter note, how much Cawksucking will we have to endure today? Also the officials are two of the worst the Wings could have gotten.

Thanks OAkie.

Bitches.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!
