Kukla's Korner Hockey

A press release just reminded me that The Love Guru opens on Friday. Which was almost a surprise, to be honest—Given the magnitude of coverage the hockey blogs have given that film in recent weeks, one could almost be forgiven for thinking the movie had been in theaters for a month already.
Anyway, while I’ll confess to personally getting a bit sick of reading about the movie, I still look forward to actually seeing it. Always cool when hockey arrives on the big screen.
From Thomas LaRocca at NHL.com,
Comedian Mike Myers and superstar Justin Timberlake were two of the many stars that helped light up the world famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and delighted hundreds of screaming fans at the premiere of the new comedy The Love Guru.
Oh yeah, they even let in a few hockey players too, since Myers would not have it any other way.
Photo on this post is Justin Timberlake—and that George-Parros-wannabe thing he has going on somehow improves his credibility with me, oddly enough. (For today, anyway.) Meanwhile, if you want to find out more on the event, check out Puck Daddy.

From an interview with Adrian Dater at the Denver Post, actor Mike Myers:
“Any time I meet an NHL player, I get all tongue-tied. I’m like, eight years old again. I have to say, it’s only about five years ago that I gave up my dream of playing in the NHL. It’s something that a Canadian man holds onto for a very long time, well past the appropriate age.”
(Or in some cases, Canadian women. We all have our own inappropriate NHL dreams, methinks.)
From Mike Itchue at MLive.com:
Chris Osgood joined The Stoney and Wojo show on WDFN (1130 AM Detroit) Monday afternoon to share stories of his weekend adventures with the Stanley Cup and talk about upcoming appearances.
Osgood and Nicklas Lidstrom will appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Tuesday, and Osgood will also walk the Cup down the red carpet at the premiere of the Mike Myers movie “The Love Guru,” which has a hockey theme.
“That is one thing I’m nervous about,” Osgood said of his red carpet walk.
