via the Nashville Predators,
Predators General Manager David Poile announced Thursday that defenseman Ryan Ellis is expected to miss several months due to recovery from offseason surgery to repair a lower-body ailment.
Poile is hopeful Ellis will be able to return around the start of the new year.
The 26-year-old blueliner tallied a career-high 16 goals and 38 points during the 2016-17 season and battled injuries during the playoffs while helping to guide Nashville to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.

Nashville Fits Ryan Ellis Well

from Alex Prewitt of Sports Illustrated,
Ryan Ellis is standing outside the home locker room at Bridgestone Arena, near an emptied stick rack and the tunnel that leads toward the benches. Between his crisp silver suit and cascading ginger beard, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound defenseman looks as though he recently emerged from six months of hermitage in the Smoky Mountains and dressed up for a welcome-back-to-society press conference. Or like he had been awarded the honor of delivering the keynote address at one of downtown Nashville’s many conventions. Specifically, an international expo for leprechaun look-a-likes.
It’s early Thursday afternoon, not long after the Predators began and ended practice within 20 minutes, typically brisk under brusque coach Peter Laviolette. Most of Ellis’s teammates have already left for the airport, where the team plane awaits for another series-opening road trip, the third straight for the eighth seed in the Western Conference. Never in its 18-year history has Nashville advanced this far in the playoffs, a boon to both the franchise and its hockey-tonkin’ fans. And with the Predators standing just four wins away from reaching the Stanley Cup Final, a quest that begins Friday in Anaheim, few—if any, really—players have made bigger impacts than the unassuming 26-year-old idling in the hallway.

Predators updates regarding Mike Fisher and Ryan Ellis
by George Malik on 08/13/14 at 10:27 PM ET

The Tennessean's Josh Cooper updated two important items on the Nashville front today, and the first comes via a tip from NHL.com: According to Cooper, Predators forward Mike Fisher's not exactly going to return in a hurry from surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles' tendon:
There is no change in the timeline for forward Mike Fisher's recovery from a ruptured Achilles, Predators general manager David Poile said.
Fisher was injured in early July and the Predators announced that he would miss four to six months.
"He's working out on a regular basis here," Poile said. "Everything is tracking to date, but the bottom line is still a four- to six-month injury. Optimistically, Thanksgiving and end of November. That's an optimistic target."
Second, Cooper reports that the Predators and restricted free agent defenseman Ryan Ellis remain "a ways apart":

Ellis Continues To Impress
by Paul on 01/21/12 at 12:12 PM ET

from Bob Duff of the Windsor Star,
He’s pounding slapshots into the back of the net, and opposing forwards into the ice.
Eleven games into his National Hockey League career, Nashville Predators defenceman Ryan Ellis has wasted little time in showing big-league fans what he’s all about.
The same elements that made him a star with the Windsor Spitfires, that brought fans at the WFCU Centre out of their seats with regularity, are quickly emerging as Ellis grows rapidly into his stature as an NHLer.
“A little bit more comes out each game,” said Ellis, who has 2-3-5 totals and a plus-four rating since his Dec. 26 recall from the AHL Milwaukee Admirals.
“You kind of realize what kind of player each guy is out there, and you just go out and play your game.
“The more you can play your game, the easier it gets for you.”
