Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen will miss the remainder of Thursday’s game in Dallas after taking a hit to the head from defenseman Mark Fistric, general manager Ken Holland said.

He (Mark Fistric) gets in a fight with Eric Nystrom and hits Nystrom on the head with his own helmet.
The match penalty means intent to injure. We could be looking at a suspension here.
It’s too bad. Fistric had a clean hit on Nystrom that Nystrom took exception to. Fistric was winning the fight and just ended up with Nystrom’s helmet by the strap, and then he swung his fist and hit Nystrom in the head with the helmet.
I happened to be watching the game and it looked like to me that the helmet sort of was looped in the finger of Fistric, didn’t look intential to me.
