Sheldon Souray suffered a torn ligament in his right wrist while working out (off the ice) on July 17. He had surgery to repair the damage at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles on July 25 (Dr. Steven Shin).
He is expected to be out four-to-six months (from the time of surgery).
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Mark Fistric to a one-year contract through the 2013-14 NHL season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Nino Niederreiter was the recipient of the hit. Fistric did not receive a penalty for the hit, but did get two for roughing when Matt Martin jumped in. Martin received two double-minors for roughing.

Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen will miss the remainder of Thursday’s game in Dallas after taking a hit to the head from defenseman Mark Fistric, general manager Ken Holland said.

He (Mark Fistric) gets in a fight with Eric Nystrom and hits Nystrom on the head with his own helmet.
The match penalty means intent to injure. We could be looking at a suspension here.
It’s too bad. Fistric had a clean hit on Nystrom that Nystrom took exception to. Fistric was winning the fight and just ended up with Nystrom’s helmet by the strap, and then he swung his fist and hit Nystrom in the head with the helmet.
I happened to be watching the game and it looked like to me that the helmet sort of was looped in the finger of Fistric, didn’t look intential to me.

The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has placed defenseman Mattias Norstrom on the injured reserve list retroactive to November 9. The Stars also recalled defenseman Mark Fistric from the Iowa Stars, Dallas’ primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Norstrom, 35, suffered a small fracture to his orbital bone in the Stars’ Nov. 7 contest at San Jose and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
