Marco Scandella With A Four-Year Extension In St. Louis

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the team has agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension for defenseman Marco Scandella.

The deal is worth $3.275 million per year.

Scandella, 30, was originally acquired by the Blues via trade from the Montreal Canadiens on Feb. 18.

The 6-foot-3, 212-pound defenseman has dressed in 11 games for the Blues, logging one assist and four penalty minutes. Prior to joining the team, Scandella appeared in 51 games between the Canadiens (20) and Buffalo Sabres (31) this season, totaling 12 points (four goals, eight assists), a plus-10 rating and 16 penalty minutes.

The Montreal, Quebec, native was originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the second round (No. 55 overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft. Across 10 seasons and 580 career regular-season games, Scandella has recorded 137 points (42 goals, 95 assists) and 231 penalty minutes. He has also played in 39 career postseason games, recording nine points (six goals, three assists) and six penalty minutes.

Montreal Trades Marco Scandella To St. Louis

MONTREAL - The Canadiens announced on Tuesday that they've acquired a second-round pick in 2020 and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2021 from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenseman Marco Scandella.

Scandella, 29, was acquired by the Canadiens from Buffalo on January 2 in return for a fourth-round pick in 2020. The Montreal native played 20 games for the Habs, recording three points (1G, 2A).

The 6-foot-3, 212-pound rearguard is a veteran of 569 NHL contests with the Minnesota Wild, Sabres, and Canadiens. He has 136 career points (42G, 94A) over 10 seasons in the League.

Scandella was Minnesota's second-round pick (55th overall) in 2008.

Marco Scandella hits T.J. Oshie in the head

Marco Scandella signed a contract extension with the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, and on Saturday night, as CBS Sports' Adam Gretz noted, Scandella may have spent some of that money after hitting St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie (who would emerge unscathed...eventually...) in the head:

That's a suspension. Period.

Marco Scandella Signs Five-Year Extension With The Wild

Fresh on the heels of scoring an overtime goal last night in Dallas, defenseman Marco Scandella will have another reason to smile this evening. The Wild has signed the blueliner to a five-year contract extension through the 2019-20 campaign.

“Marco has shown tremendous improvement in his career and is one of the best young, two-way defensemen in the NHL,” said Fletcher. “He is a hard-working, energetic player who is just scratching the surface of his potential in the NHL.”
