St. Louis Picks up David Koci, and Other Transactions

From the St. Louis Blues:

St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the team claimed forward David Koci on waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning also waived Jason Ward today while claiming Matt Pettinger off re-entry waivers from Vancouver.

Also, Vancouver’s Kyle Wellwood, Darren McCarty of Detroit and Sharks defenceman Lukas Kaspar all cleared the transaction wire, New York Rangers forward Patrick Rissmiller and Anaheim Ducks defenceman Ken Klee have been placed on waivers.

Sharks Place Former 1st Round Pick On Waivers

The Sharks have placed forward Lukas Kaspar on waivers, giving 29 other teams a chance to claim San Jose’s 2004 first-round draft pick.

Sharks GM Doug Wilson said the team made the move today in part because three injured players — Milan Michalek, Tomas Plihal and Douglas Murray — appear ready to return after missing two or three games with injuries. But it also was made because the team wants to stay one-player under the 23-man limit in order to maintain maximum flexibility to brings up players from Worcester on short notice.
