NEW YORK, March 12, 2015 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Kevin Klein will be sidelined three-to-four weeks with an upper-body injury.
Klein has skated in 65 games this season, registering nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points, along with a plus-24 rating and 25 penalty minutes. He has established career-highs in goals, points, and game-winning goals (four), and has tied his career-high in assists in 2014-15.

“I don’t know if anyone saw his ear there, but he lost a piece of it and they sewed it back,” coach Alain Vigneault said. “Say what you what you want about hockey players, but they’re tough SOBs.”
Klein said he got “about 13-14 stitches, we didn’t have time to count.”

(Kevin) Klein laid the wood to Roussel late in the second period of Nashville’s 4-1 victory at Bridgestone Arena, drawing praise from teammates and coaches alike.
“It was just a great scrap,” Predators forward Eric Nystrom said. “I’ve been in a few of those, and the bottom line is that that is what takes the most courage in the whole sport. Dropping the gloves and engaging like that for your teammates. … The guys responded really well from that.”
The energy the fight infused into the Predators was apparent, as they aggressively finished the second period and were rewarded with a Roman Josi goal with 31 seconds remaining to push their lead to 3-1.
“Klein doesn’t fight very often,” Predators coach Barry Trotz said. “I’ve been here his whole career, and when he does fight, I can’t remember him losing one. I hope that is played on ‘NHL Tonight’ and all those other places so people can take notes.”
