via Scott Lewis of Sportsnet,
The Minnesota Wild’s deadline acquisition of defenceman Jordan Leopold was hardly a blockbuster trade, but it wound up being one of the day’s biggest stories.
A letter written by Leopold’s daughter Jordyn back in January, asking the Wild to bring her father home to Minnesota, went viral on deadline day.
Jordyn spoke about the letter and the impact it made on social media Thursday.
Take note, NHL fathers. Your shot at landing on your hometown team rests on your children’s ability to pen adorable letters.

Sabres ‘D’ Trying to Put it All Together
by @DaveDavisHockey on 11/17/10 at 04:52 PM ET

If you think the Sabres aren’t scoring enough goals, well, don’t blame the defense. Buffalo’s blueliners have racked up 13 goals in 19 games. Tonight’s opponent, the high flying Washington Capitals, ‘only’ have 12 from their defensemen.
Sure, the offensive contributions of Jordan Leopold, Steve Montador (yep, really) and Tyler Myers have been a tonic for this team as it tries to climb out of its self-dug hole. Buffalo has gone to overtime in five straight games and has earned 9 of 10 possible points. But let’s not kid ourselves - the Sabres will have to cut down on mistakes in their own zone if they’re serious about being contenders again.

Ryan Miller’s Place In The 2010-11 Vezina Discussion
by @DaveDavisHockey on 10/05/10 at 04:52 PM ET

While it certainly can’t be said with a straight face that Ryan Miller doesn’t get enough respect, there are some pundits out there who have declared, almost as a foregone conclusion, that the 30-year old Sabres franchise netminder will still be solid but won’t be able to duplicate his Vezina-worthy magic of 2009-10.
Whether because of changes in the Sabres defensive corps, having played too many games, or simply from the difficulty of maintaining such a high level of play in an ultra-competitive league where the difference in the talent level of goaltenders has shrunk significantly, discussions by many about Miller’s prospects for the upcoming season are accompanied by buzzwords and catch phrases like “dropoff” and “coming back down to earth”.
