from David Pollak of Working the Corners,
Rookie center Andrew Desjardins was near the blue line when he was on the receiving end of a high hit by Blue Jackets left wing Dane Byers early in the second period. Desjardins fell woozily to the ice, then was helped to the locker room. He did not return.
“That’s exactly what we want to eliminate from the game, exactly,” Sharks coach Todd McLellan said.
Desjardins said he was taken to what is known in the NHL as the “quiet room” after the hit, but he said after the game he was feeling much better.
“You can’t risk anything, but we don’t know anything” he said of the decision to keep him out of the rest of the game. “I feel fine, I feel all right.”
See the penalty breakdown below along with a video of the hit…

from Bob McKenzie of TSN,
The New York Rangers-Vancouver Canucks brouhaha in the third period of Tuesday night’s game has players from both teams on the NHL’s discipline docket.
Rangers forward Dane Byers was assessed an instigator penalty in a fight with Vancouver’s Tanner Glass in the final five minutes of the game (18:50 of the third period) and that calls for an automatic one-game suspension and a $10,000 fine for Rangers coach John Tortorella.
