Rolling the dice on the Jackets

After the 7-3 blowout start against Detroit the Columbus prospects ended the tournament with a 4-3 loss in overtime against St. Louis. For Columbus the star of this tournament came to be Ryan Johansen (3-3-6, 5+/-) who placed second overall coming close behind Phillip McRae (4-3-7, 3+/-) for St. Louis. The Jackets prospects placed fourth which is good enough for me. You don’t expect much after four straight losses last year. Hell, they even ended with more GA than GF this year. 16 GF and 14 GA compared to 8 GF and 23 GA last year.
Our prospects end up coming home to some good news about their team’s security.

With the last two games combined Columbus already bested their record from 2010. Last year they tallied 4 losses with 8 goals for and 23 goals against. After the last two days they currently stand at 10 goals for and 9 goals against. On Saturday they bested the Detroit with a 7-3 win but fell yesterday to Buffalo with a score of 6-3.
As of now 20 year old defenseman David Savard is leading the Jacket’s prospects with 5 points (1G, 4A).

In a campaign to cross promote, the more successful Championship teams in Columbus like the Crew and the Clippers are joining hands with the Blue Jackets in promoting a “GAME ON COLUMBUS!” campaign. In the announcement these teams were described as “great High Profile Ambassador(s)”. They are hoping lift Columbus into a kickass city that only breathes greatness. It was said that “we are well on our way to becoming one of the major sports destinations in the country”.
