Barrett Jackman May Be A Fit For The Chicago Blackhawks

Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch held an online chat today...

Do you think that the Blackhawks and Joel Quennville will have any interest in signing Barrett Jackman? It seemed that the hawks did have some concerns about their defense.

Honestly, I think Jackman makes a ton of sense in Chicago. He's exactly what they need, a veteran guy who's willing to play in the third pair and not cost a ton of money. His relationships with Quenneville and Kitchen would make this move even more obvious. I know Chicago has cap issues going into next season and maybe they can't pay $3 million for a third-pair guy, but if they can figure that out, it makes a lot of sense and I would almost be surprised if it doesn't happen. For the record, I asked Jackman about this and he said it would be VERY hard to put that jersey on.

Blues Respond To Savard Comments

from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,

On Monday, as the Blues were preparing for tonight’s game against Detroit, some took exception to Savard’s comments.

“Deni Savard trying to question our toughness or question our methods is beyond me,” Jackman said. “He played in a day and age when there was a fight every whistle and gloves in faces. If he’s got a problem with it, then he’s just not looking at what he played through.

“Those are their two best players. If they want to play in this league a long time, it’s going to be a situation where they’re going to have to face some adversity and that’s having to play through things. Kane had his stick on our goalie every whistle and Toews was standing in front of the net. If they want to go to the net, it’s a physical game. Sorry that we hurt their feelings.”
