Konowalchuk, Deadmarsh Added To Avs Coaching Staff

DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today the appointment of Steve Konowalchuk as assistant coach. In addition, the club announced that Adam Deadmarsh will serve as the team’s video/development coach.
The former Avalanche players join a coaching staff that includes head coach Joe Sacco and assistant coach Sylvain Lefebvre.
“We’re very excited to add Steve and Adam to our staff,” said Avalanche General Manager Greg Sherman. “Both have a level of familiarity with the Avalanche organization, and we’re confident they will provide our club with the same passion and commitment they showed as players.”

Deadmarsh Interviews For Avalanche Front Office Position

Adam Deadmarsh could soon be coming back to the Avalanche.
His playing days are over, but Deadmarsh has interviewed for a management position with the Avs organization, the team confirmed Wednesday.
Avs vice president Jean Martineau said that while Deadmarsh is not up for the team’s vacant second assistant coaching position, he has interviewed for another management job and is being strongly considered.

Reminiscing with Adam Deadmarsh

Christa [Deadmarsh] was telling me that Peter Forsberg recently paid a visit to their house. Forsberg and Deadmarsh were inseperable in their playing days with the Avs, always competing against one another in some kind of game.
Their latest grudge match involves golf, where the winner of a round gets a green jacket to wear and lord over the other. I guess Peter won by one stroke in their latest match, shooting an 80. When he got back to Sweden, he texted Deadmarsh asking what the temperature was in Idaho that day - “80 perhaps?”
The two reminisced some over their playing days, particularly the Kings-Avs playoff series of 2001. Christa and Adam joked to Peter that if only his spleen had burst a couple games earlier, the Kings would have had a better chance.
