NEW YORK (April 16, 2012)—Ottawa Senators forward Zenon Konopka has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and his club fined $10,000 for Konopka’s conduct prior to Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarter-Final at New York on Saturday. April 14, the National Hockey League announced today.
Konopka was fined for his verbal abuse directed at a New York Rangers player conducting a live television interview nearby during pre-game warm-ups.

So saying mean things to your opponent and breaking one’s helmet while ramming their head into the glass warrants the same punishment.
That’s just fuching sad.

Whoa, wait a second. The Rangers player was conducting a TV interview, for goodness sake. Some people have no sense of perspective. ![]()

I missed this, what happened? For $2500 I’m assuming he took off a skate and tried to slash someone’s face with it.

Good thing there were no TV cameras around when Weber turnbuckled Zetterberg.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words are worth $2,500.

Sticks and stones and forcefully shoving my head into the glass may break my helmet and be worth a $2500 fine but words will also be a $2500 fine.
Fixed that up for ya.
