The more I think about it, the more I believe both sides realize another lockout would really hurt this league.

And I don’t think the owners have much to stand on when they continue to sign guys to long term contracts while the negotiations take place.

I think a deal gets done at the last hour.

Still not confident. Still believe the first two months are sacrificial just so both sides can say how seriously they take their positions.

Hockey starts when national broadcasts start.

When Gord Stellick thinks the first two months of the season are a waste, you get the mindset of the powers that be.  He’s a hockey insider and he’s bored with the sport, maybe the NHL needs fresh blood and not the same old cabal of cronies.  Could we just start the season on time and award the Cup while there is still a chill in the air?
