Young Blackhawks Impress Savard

Under the watchful eyes of the Hawks’ hierarchy, 2007 No. 1 overall draft pick Patrick Kane and the team’s top selection in ‘06, Jonathan Toews, hit the ice for the team’s first scrimmage at its prospects camp at The Edge in Bensenville.
Playing on the same line, they didn’t disappoint. Kane made a terrific pass to set up one goal and center Toews later scored an unassisted goal as they displayed some slick moves in front of general manager Dale Tallon and coach Denis Savard.
“I was pretty impressed,” Savard said. “It’s only Day One … but I like what I saw.”
