You Just Call The Penalty

Rules used to be pretty much for tourists in the NHL. In today's show, you can look at an opponent. Touch them, however, and you get anywhere from two years to life. Vernon product Tom Kowal is entering his fifth season as an NHL referee. He underwent medical testing Friday and was scheduled for a physical Saturday at the league's officials' camp in Fort Erie, Ont. They start skating today. The rulebook hasn't changed. The game just went south for a few years and every coach at every level taught his players to cheat by hooking, clutching and grabbing. Now, the danglers can dangle without getting assaulted and the players, coaches and fans are happier.
