You Make The Call

While we wait for the NHL talk to pick up, I would like to ask you two questions.

Where will Jason Spezza end up?

The same question on Ryan Kesler, what team will trade for Kesler or will he remain in Vancouver?

Regarding Spezza, supposedly he has listed some teams he will not accept a trade to. They include teams located in Canada, the Panthers, Blue Jackets and maybe a few more.

Kesler also has a list of teams he doesn't want to be traded to.

Since both players can somewhat control their destiny, it does make it more difficult to trade but I believe both will be moved.

How about you?

I can see Spezza winding up in Anaheim. They have a number of prospects they’d be willing to part with, and the GM’s have a decent report after the Bobby Ryan deal last summer.

As for Kesler, I could see him in Pittsburgh if they can move James Neal elsewhere. They’re a little strapped for cash with just under $16 million to fill 9 roster spots. As far as $$ is concerned, a Neal/Kesler deal would be a wash, but Jim Rutherford may be inclined to make a positive move after the team fired Shero and Bylsma.

Neal has likely worn out his welcome in Pittsburgh. For the Pens sake I hope they move him.

Spezza is coming West and I expect Kesler is going East. Neither team wants to see these guys playing for the opposition regularly. I agree that right now the Ducks are most probable for Spezza, though I wouldn’t rule out the Sharks. Kesler might end up in NY after the Richards buyout? I don’t recall reading about any issues between him and Vigneult. Could also end up in Florida with his pal Bobby Lou.
