You Can Say One Thing But Do Another

Pesonally, I will be back but I have covered both of the recent lockouts and without a doubt, I see more fans saying they won't be back this time around.

The last lockout, fans understood why it was being done, the game needed fixing, this time, trying to understand why it is happening is head-scratching.

The thing you’re missing is that it’s simply not revenue. The luxury boxes at the United Center are owned across everything. Between the two sports they play there, 105% of revenue from luxury box sales are counted. That doesn’t even begin to cover all the non NBA/NHL thing. The reason they don’t count that as revenue is because it’s not revenue for their sport. They’re not backing anything out.

You’re trying to conflate every dollar that goes through a team’s arena straight to that team and saying “SEE?!” It makes no point.  Like I said, if you want to believe NFL players REALLY only get 1/3rd of revenues, I’m not going to stop you.  Have fun with that.

You are completely wrong.  The suites sold for an NBA event go towards NBA revenue.  NHL event?  NHL revenue.  The money is not split up per location, but per event at the location.  You are making a simultaneously meaningless and incorrect distinction.

That’s an absurd suggestion.

Hey, I guess since they have concerts at the Staples center as well NBA and NHL players get a cut from that, right?

Splat.
