Yet another Patrick Sharp trade rumor

Via CBS Sports' Chris Peters, one Tweet spiced up a rather dull--by imminent-trade-deadline standards--Friday by a significant margin:

I'm not sure why the Patrick Kane-less Blackhawks would want to rid themselves of Sharp unless it was strictly due to his $5.9 million cap hit for the next two years.

Who would go the other way? Kuc never stated that.

According to a source inside the locker room, Sharp got in a fist fight with another player inside the locker room in the preasesson, and this has not been his first altercation.

You would have to think Chicago entertaining this would only be possible if Burakovsky or Kuznetsov were going back the other way.

Paul and I had a talk about the fight rumors and we chose to not report it for a reason—the Hawks’ beat writers have insisted that there’s far more to the story than Puck Daddy intonated, and the level of anger from the beat writers at this rumor’s spreading has been pretty astonishing.

They’ve been insistent that whatever happened wasn’t a Winnipeg Jets-style blow-up and that the controversy doesn’t explain what happened in context, so I have to believe that Sharp is being shopped due to cap-related reasons.

George, I am not sure how the media/beat writers are in Chicago, but if the same rumor came out of Detroit, I know FOR SURE that the beat writers would be downplaying it 100%.

In Detroit, I know how “shunned” someone will end up if they cross the team/its players and all these writers are terrified that they will lose their sources/access if they rock the boat. Because of that, most of them go to bat for the team. If its the same in Chicago, I wouldn’t be surprised.

If they actually trade Sharp, I will put more credence to this rumor. I can see the team wanting to move him for cap space, but not if the team can make a run. There’s no reason to further derail the team’s chances unless they really do want to move him. I’m going to pay attention to who comes back to Chicago if they make a deal to see if I believe this rumor or not.
