Would The Blackhawks Move Kane?

from ESPNChicago,

The free-falling Chicago Blackhawks need a goaltender, and they can afford to trade All-Star Patrick Kane to get one, former Hawk and current NBC analyst Jeremy Roenick said Wednesday….

“Everybody knows I am a huge Patrick Kane fan, but when you’re talking something of this nature, is Patrick Kane dealable? As much as I don’t want to say it, they can afford to get rid of Patrick Kane,” Roenick said Wednesday on “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on ESPN 1000. “They can afford to—with the season he’s having—maybe with his off-ice reputation, maybe with the skill they have on their team—it’s doable.

“Do I like it? No, because I love Patrick Kane. He is one of the most talented and one of the best players in the NHL. But if you really want a top-end goaltender you’re going to have to give up somebody.”

Trade Patrick to WIN for Evander.

Then Patrick can punch out cabbies in the ‘Peg, and Evander can walk out on checks in the Windy City.

What goalie are you going to get for Kane exactly?  I mean Kane could be traded for nearly any goalie in the league, but what GM is going to trade away their primary goalie right now?

For example, the penguins… Sure they would love to have Kane, but Shero is not going to give up what Kane is worth (Fleury), and Chicago would not want the pens backup in johnson.

Detroit, Sure the Wings would love to have Kane, but they are not going to give up Howard, and Chicago is not will to take MacDonald.

The only situation i could see where a contending team may think about it would be Vancouver.  They could possibly give up Lou for Kane, but i can not see anywhere else where a Kane-for-goalie trade makes sense right now.

i don’t see chicago talking lu off us for kane, especially with all the trash talking and grief they have given hiim over the years, as if his mental game wasn’t brittle enough as it is

Kane isn’t going anywhere and neither are the Hawks.

Why does JR have to always make it about him.  Yeah, you were great JR…we get it.  But when you keep reminding us how great you were…just go away.  Yeah, cry when the Blackhawks win a Cup, not because you feel for the franchise, but because you never won one.

except the creap has said publicly more than once that he hates Detroit and would never want to play there.  And judging by his defensive prowess, I’m guessing the feeling may be mutual.

The rumor, of course, is Miller. Or, Miller and Roy for Kane, Crawford, and something else to be exact.

It makes sense to throw in Roy, because Hawks need the 2nd line center still, but do Sabres want Crawford in the deal?

Or they could trade Kane to get Big Buff back.

I could see the Sabres getting rid of either Enroth or Miller.  They’re going to have to create an identity on that team and they’ve committed to the Leino/Erhoff identity and tied their money up there as well.

They know Enroth can play, came in when Miller was slumping.  Would hate to see it happen but it’s not outside the realm of possibility I don’t think.

Also maybe Lindback in Nashville??? Win/Win there too.

Bernier in LA for Kane is a Win/Win as well

bottom line is they aren’t getting a top starting goaltender though, so they’d have to settle for a great backup whose still improving.

I’d play for LIndback myself

I"m not convinced goaltending will help. I think their third D pair is so bad that goaltending upgrade can’t help it. But doI want them to deal Kane for a goaltender: Absolutely!!!

I don’t think Chicago is trading Kane within the conference unless they get a real big time stopper, and Bernier isn’t that yet.

As for if the Sabres would want Crawford, good question. Do they want to put all their eggs into the Enroth basket based on not even 50 games of NHL action? I THINK Enroth is the real deal, but that’s a mighty gamble. At least Crawford would give them SOME insurance, though at that cap hit, maybe not the best option.

Perhaps get Chicago to throw in a D-man instead? Niklas Hjalmarsson?

Makes sense long-term to move Kane (anybody think Pat Kane takes good enough care of himself to be an elite player in 5 years? Anyone?). Patrick Sharp’s sort of stepped into the spot they always wanted Kane to occupy. Plus there’s Hossa. Stalberg has been very good.

Only an idiot like JR would move him at the deadline, though. Or for a goalie. Goalie has to be the most volatile position in terms of whether or not they will thrive or fail with a different franchise in today’s NHL.

Might make sense to ship him down to St Louis for Jackman and something else. Kane and Oshie could make sweet shinny passes to each other in the first period and do kegstands for the crowd at intermission.

I wouldn’t want $0.20 for a skateguard in Detroit.

Article is from ESPN Chicago. I’ll repeat it. ESPN. Chicago.  And Chicago is just a dogshit hockey town with a bunch of idiots that know nothing.  The beat writers for the Hawks have not written a decent article and typically appeals to the lowest common denominator, ie. people who need a refresher time to time on off-sides and icing.  There is no way StanBo in his right mind would ever trade Kane. Hossa and Sharp are right at in their 2-3 year sweet spot and after that the only superstar would be Toews.

P.s. I’m a Hawks fan from Chicago haha.

I watched that 36 hour thing on Patrick Kane and don’t see him fitting in with the Red Wings. He doesn’t seem to be a good teammate.
