Two big developments on the downtown arena file today, with Edmonton Oilers owner Daryl Katz and team president Patrick LaForge reportedly down in Seattle, where city council has just approved a new $480 million arena building, as well as Edmonton’s Mayor Stephen Mandel setting an Oct. 17 drop dead date for the arena deal here.
Katz and LaForge reportedly visited the Key Arena, which is the old arena in Seattle, not the new one.
This all comes from Seattle radio reporter Ian Furness, who tweeted: “Breaking. A group representing the Edmonton Oilers, including team president, owner was in Seattle today taking a tour of Key Arena.”
