World Cup Of Hockey Semifinals Attracting Interest On Secondary Ticket Market

09/23/2016 at 4:51pm EDT

By Tim Dolan,

After a thrilling first week of action, the World Cup of Hockey is one step closer to crowning a tournament champion. To date, the tournament games have been intense, highly competitive, and emotional for both sides -- and the excitement should only increase from here on out.

In Group A, Canada easily emerged victorious by posting a 3-0 record and outscoring opponents, 14-3. In addition, the three top goal scorers in the tournament (Jonathan Toews, Sidney Crosby, and Matt Duchene) all hail from the Canadian side. Team Europe also advanced from Group A by posting a 2-1 record, which included wins over the United States and the Czech Republic. The United States squad finished the tournament with a disappointing 0-3 record and their players will turn their attention to the upcoming NHL regular season.

Over in Group B, Sweden narrowly won the group by posting an 2-0-1 record, while allowing just five goals in three games. Credit New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist for leading that effort, en route to his squad topping the group. By virtue of winning Group B, Sweden will play Team Europe on Sunday. This contest probably offers the best values to fans in terms of tickets, as on TicketIQ, the get-in price is only $14.

The second-place finisher in Group B was the Russian team. Russia narrowly lost the Group B title to Sweden and as a result, will unfortunately have to play Team Canada in Toronto in the semifinals. Winning this game will be a tall order for the Russian side, but with Sergei Bobrovsky in goal, anything is possible. As expected, this encounter is drawing the highest ticket prices, with Canada being on the verge of winning the World Cup of Hockey. On TicketIQ, the get-in ticket price for this matchup starts as high as $104.

Fans traveling to any of these games can also find great parking deals for their Air Canada Centre parking on ParkWhiz.com. They have numerous cheap parking spots all around the venue to help fans save money.
