Winnipeg acquires Lee Stempniak from NYR for Carl Klingberg

The Winnipeg Jets announced they have acquired forward Lee Stempniak from the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Carl Klingberg. The Jets also announced they have re-assigned forward Eric O’Dell to the St. John’s IceCaps.

Stempniak, 32, has played in 690 career games over 11 seasons with the Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, & St. Louis Blues. In that time, he has scored 359 points (159G, 200A) while collecting 251 penalty minutes. The native of West Seneca, NY has also played in 24 Stanley Cup playoff games in his career, collecting five points (2G,3A) and six penalty minutes. So far this season, Stempniak has 18 points (9G, 9A) in 53 games with the Rangers. He was originally drafted by the Blues in the fifth round, 48th overall in the 2003 NHL Draft.
