Negotiations continue with forwards Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg and defenseman Niklas Kronwall. Holland played telephone tag with the agent for Kronwall -- whom the team sees as part of its top-four defensive core -- last weekend and hopes to connect with him this week. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are considered part of the team's young nucleus. "I've talked to agents for both players recently," Holland said. "We're not close to a deal."
update 7:33am, Talking about the Wings, this from the Detroit News,
The Wings reportedly are close to solidifying their defensive roster. Windsor native Andy Delmore, an offensive defensemen whose last NHL stop was in Boston, could be the seventh and final defenseman signed by the Wings this week.

update 9:10am, from the Windsor Star,
What seemed like a fantasy to Andy Delmore has turned into reality after the Windsor native signed with the Detroit Red Wings Monday.
The smooth-skating defenceman inked a one-year pact with the Wings worth about $450,000 US.
“It’s been a dream of mine to play for Detroit,” the 28-year-old Delmore said.
