Kukla's Korner Hockey

Detroit, New Jersey and Colorado have captured eight of the past 10 Stanley Cups, coming as close to dynasties as the NHL has had since 1995. All three were hit hard this summer as talent spread around the league in the NHL's new salary-cap world, but only one team so far hasn't lost a beat: the Red Wings. Why? Try Johan Franzen, Jason Williams, Mikael Samuelsson and Andreas Lilja. Never heard of them? Neither have most hockey fans, but they're part of the reason the Red Wings sit atop the NHL's overall standings at 9-1-0 while the Avalanche (3-4-1 before Tuesday) and Devils (4-4-0) have sputtered somewhat.
