Wings Press Conference

Wings have called a 1pm press conference for Monday. Let the speculation begin. added 11:30pm, After making a few phone calls, radio and TV networks have been invited to cover the conference. Every sign points to Steve Yzerman retiring. added 11:55pm, Local radio and TV stations are now planning a live cut-in of the press conference. added 7:00am Monday, from the Detroit News,
The Red Wings have called a 1 p.m. news conference for Monday. The organization is calling it a major announcement, which fuels speculation it be regarding the future of Steve Yzerman, who has been torn about retirement or playing another season. If not Yzerman, the Wings could be announcing the acquisition of a free agent. Holland is in the market for a veteran No. 1 goalie, and one strong possibility is Ed Belfour. A physical defenseman is another need, and Aaron Ward, a former Red Wing who recently won a Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes, has been linked to the Red Wings.
added 8:34am, from Mlive,
Yzerman spoke with Wings general manager Ken Holland on Friday, and a team source said Yzerman assured the club that he would make a decision by today. It's highly unlikely the Wings would hold a press conference to announce that Yzerman is returning.
