Wings Fan

Ted Montgomery of USA TODAY writes the Wings logo is the most recognizable NHL insignia,
I recently saw Paul McCartney in concert in Detroit and on one of his acoustic guitars — the one he played on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 — he has the Red Wings logo. Paul was attracted to the logo in the 1970s when he was fronting the band Wings. That got me thinking about NHL team logos and how many of them have been used successfully as branding tools. I believe, with all due respect to the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs, that the Red Wings' logo is the most popular among people who don't necessarily follow the NHL.
