Seems about right for one of the bad owners.  His star player is sort of asking for trade in an round about way, like may before him. Not all stars,LOL

Another 3 years for the new GM??

I want to know how many of them had contracts beyond this season.

I assume that is the same Randy Hansch that was at one time goalie of the future for the Wings?

So much for “draft and develop”.

Also a tough tack to take especially in this
economic environment from owners who came
in IIRC pledging to spend whatever it took to build
a championship team.

So now they’ve got Kevyn Adams - who may be
very capable, but who’s experience is as a business/numbers
guy. No experience I know of on the GM, player personnel
side of things. Plus I guess they’re going to lean on Ralph
Kreuger, which is cool as far as it goes. Just a lot to ask of
two guys who aren’t NHL GMs by trade. And both of whom will
now be flying half-blind with most of the scouts jettisoned.

It’s going to take the Wings a while to get back in contention.
And maybe few of us realized how far this team was set to bottom out.
But it makes me grateful we appear to have an owner who is willing to
let his GM do his job, extend him the patience and trust warranted,
and give him the resources to do it right - draft and develop.

I can’t imagine there are many teams that will want to follow in any Buffalo Sabres footsteps.

Maybe Ottawa?

Hell, if anything, I would bet there could be teams that were considering it but might not do it now so that they don’t look bad like Buffalo does.

They are drafting in the top 5 every year.. Pretty easy job for a scout.

They are drafting in the top 5 every year..

Aside from 7 of the last 10 years. And also aside from this year, unless they get some luck.
